Monstrance in gilded brass (the base) and solid silver gilt (the sunburst) by Placide Poussielgue Russand, Paris around 1850. The octagonal base is decorated with the Agnus-Dei, the Tetragrammaton and the motifs of wheat and the vine. The hand hold takes up this decor and is adorned with two winged angel heads. The sunburst is organized in a cloud from which come out angels, wheat and vines. Slight pitting in the gilding on the hand hold, otherwise perfect condition, base signed by the silversmith, well hallmarked on the sunburst and original lunette. Dimensions: height 28,54 inch, width 13,98 inch, lunula diameter 2,91 inch. Gross weight: 2290 grams.
