Monstrance in solid silver and gilt silver by Thomasson Donat, known as Fra Donat, Paris around 1930. Lunula in solid gilt silver by Armand Calliat, Lyon. Beautiful work produced by a silversmith very involved in the liturgical arts and corresponding with the high-end of the productions of this period. The round silver base is gilded with silver parts, adorned with repoussé-work roses, two amethyst stones and two other fine cognac and champagne colors stones. The inscription "AVE VERUM CORPUS NATUM DE MARIA VIRGINE" is also present. The Blessed Virgin in the round work wears the glory of the monstrance, the latter is haloed with a silver gilt halo, enclosed with garnet and turquoise stones, and also wears a diamond at the top of her dress. The glory of the monstrance is set with garnets and moonstones, and is engraving of the inscription “DEUM MEUM ET VESTRUM VENITE ADOREMUS”. Perfect condition, sold in its box of transport, a rare liturgical piece of silversmithery. Dimensions: height 24,02 inch, width 14,69 inch, diameter of the lunula 3,07 inch. Weight: 3250 grams.
